Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Can I reserve a spot in a particular class?

Yes.  To reserve a spot for a specific class schedule, you can pay 50% of the tuition fee prior to the start of the class you want to enroll in.  The balance will be due on the first day of class before it begins.    If you cannot pay the balance at that time, we can set you up on a payment plan.  There are administrative costs for setting up a payment plan.

Do I have to pay for the program prior to starting class?

No, but our classes fill up quickly, especially during the spring and summer months.  The students who have reserved their spots by paying 50% of their tuition fee prior to the start of the class have preference over students who have not paid in advance.

How does your payment plan work?

If you cannot pay for the program prior to the start of class, we can set you up on a easy payment plan. Essentially, it is a 50-50 plan.  You pay 50% of the tuition, plus a $50 administrative fee, prior to the start of the class.   The balance is due prior to taking your written final on the last day of class.

Will I be a CNA when I successfully complete the NA-1 program?

Program graduates will receive a certificate of completion and all the necessary forms and information to apply to the OSBN to take the certification exam.  There is an OSBN testing and fingerprinting fee.  When you pass the OSBN certification exam, they will send you a certificate.

Does Caregiver Training Institute offer evening or weekend classes?

We offer day, evening, weekend and online classes that start weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Does this class have homework?

Typically, assignments will take you a couple of hours per night.

Can I switch between classes?

No, only if you are an enrolled in the Online CNA-1 program do you have that option.  Even then, we prefer you choose a class and stick with that schedule.

Does the school have a dress code?

A professional appearance is required throughout the program. Students are required to dress in scrubs (any color or pattern) that are in good repair and fit properly, and wear fully enclosed non-skid soled work shoes (athletic shoes are acceptable).

How soon can I enroll in the CNA-2 program after I have completed the NA-1 program?

The OSBN requires the student to be a CNA-1 in Oregon prior to beginning the program.  As soon as your name is on the OSBN register as a CNA-1 you will be allowed to enter the program.

Do you offer scholarship to help with tuition fees?  Can I get financial aid, such as a Pell Grant, to cover the costs of the program?

We do not offer financial aid, but we can give you a list of agencies and programs that might be able to help you pay for the program.  Because we are a vocational school we do not qualify for Pell Grants.

Do I have to attend an orientation session?

Yes, attending an orientation session is required by the OSBN.

What happens if I am absent or have to take time off during the classroom or clinical portion of the program?

You will be required to make up any time lost during either the classroom or the clinical portion of the program.  Classroom makeup time is scheduled based on what the syllabus indicates was taught during the portion of class that you missed.  Clinical makeup time is scheduled when there is space available.
